District of Göppingen

The district of Göppingen - an ideal district? - Those who know it say yes without exception.
It has qualities which are worth discovering:
There you can find the edges of the Swabian Alb and its foothills, and the heights of the Schurwald which give the district a charm and rural appeal.
There is the contrast between the densely populated Fils Valley with numerous industrial companies and the residential areas which are only a few kilometers from it on the left and right with large recreation areas.

And there is the Fils itself, which like a blood vessel gives life to the district and along which the communities of the district are lined up like pearls. The political heart of the district, which is 642 km² and is home of more than 257,000 people, beats in Göppingen. Geislingen an der Steige, the former higher district city, forms the second center of the district.
The district of Göppingen belongs to the economically strong Stuttgart region and is itself an important economic location. Large companies with a world-wide reputation like Märklin, Schuler and WMF have their headquarters here.
That strong industrial development and cultural diversity do not have to contradict each other is reflected in the event calendars of the 38 cities and communities of the district. Something is always going on somewhere. And if the local offerings are not enough, you can go to the nearby Stuttgart or the nearby Ulm.
