The Wetzel family have transformed their restaurant "Zur Schwane" in the heart of Metzingen into an innovative synthesis of the arts. The best products from the Swabian Alb, a UNESCO Natural Heritage site, are to be found in its dishes, and the design reflects the special features of this biosphere reserve. Products such as Alb lentils, Filder cabbage, Alb escargots and Alb goose appear not only on the plates, but also in the décor of the restaurant. The floors are of solid oak planks, the tables are walnut, and green colour accents show off the natural materials to their best advantage. The real eye-catcher of the restaurant, however, is the nine-metre-long, illuminated panorama picture of the Swabian Alb in the early-morning mist.
