Traditional carousels, state-of-the-art rides and cozy festival tents: Experience the unique atmosphere of the Cannstatter Volksfest from September 22 to October 8, 2023 - the largest and most important festival in Baden-Württemberg, which attracts around 4 million visitors to Stuttgart every year.
People have been celebrating at the Cannstatter Wasen for more than 200 years. The foundation stone was laid in 1818 by King Wilhelm I of Württemberg and his wife Katharina. A combination of folk festival and agricultural festival with horse races and awards for outstanding achievements in livestock breeding, it was intended to get the Württemberg economy, which had been badly damaged after the Napoleonic wars, back on its feet.
Today, it's all about fun and entertainment. Countless exciting rides invite you to put your own courage to the test: from "Breakdance" to ghost train, from "Wild Mouse" to the "Cannstatter Höhenflug" - no wish remains unfulfilled here! Showmen and market traders welcome you to the 37-hectare Wasen grounds directly on the Neckar River.
You can experience an exuberant party atmosphere in the decorated festival tents with freshly tapped "Maß" and crispy "Göckele". The traditional tents invite you to experience the Swabian beer and celebration culture.
Note: Admission to the tents is free of charge at all times. Please note, however, that the tents will be closed as soon as they have reached their maximum occupancy. With a prior reservation with the landlord or landlady of your choice, admission is guaranteed.
