Carnival parade in Weil der Stadt
Every year tens of thousands of people come to Weil der Stadt, the town of Johannes Kepler, to see the carnival parade. The town even has a carnival society dedicated to organising all the fun and entertainment. Months in advance of the parade, work begins on the imaginatively decorated themed floats, many of which poke fun at local politicians as well as their contemporaries in the Bundestag and on the global stage. Most of the spectators join in with the fun too, dressing up in costume and cheering on the floats, the marching bands and the groups of masked carnival fools.
