What does a lively and future-oriented culture of remembrance look like that combines the past with the present? Who do we want to remember in this city and how? On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, the Coordination Office for the Culture of Remembrance will present the guidelines for its future work.
For the past four years, the Stuttgart Cultural Office's Coordination Office for the Culture of Remembrance has been looking at how Stuttgart's remembrance landscape can be shaped in a future-oriented way - and has developed a roadmap for the coming years together with numerous stakeholders in Stuttgart's culture of remembrance.
It summarizes guidelines and impulses for a vibrant culture of remembrance and clarifies the fields of action of the Coordination Office for the Culture of Remembrance. The paper will be presented at the event on July 23, 2025 from 5 p.m. in the Municipal Lapidarium.
After a keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Aleida Assmann, artist Steven Solbrig invites you to take a performance walk to various sculptures in the park. The team from the coordination office will also provide an insight into its work and the new guidelines.
The event is being held in cooperation with the Städtisches Lapidarium Stuttgart. Shade, breaks, drinks and snacks will be provided. The event is partly seated. If you like, you are welcome to bring your own picnic blanket.
The venue has limited accessibility. The entrance for wheelchair users is at the side of the Willy-Reichert-Staffel. A barrier-free toilet is available.
