Otto Herbert Hajek (Kaltenbach, CZ, 1927-2005, Stuttgart) is one of the most important artist personalities of the 20th century in Germany. His large outdoor sculptures also characterize the Stuttgart cityscape. The exhibition shows a representative selection of sculptures, paintings and grafices from the holdings of the O. H. Hajek Art Foundation, which was founded by the artist himself in 2003, in cooperation with the Otto Herbert Hajek Art Foundation of Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg.
Art and public space are closely linked in Hajek's work. The "Stadtzeichen Stuttgart" (1969), today on Theodor-Heuss-Straße, is a reminder of Hajek's design of the Kleiner Schlossplatz, which is exemplary of the place-making power of art in public space. Following on from this, the art collective "umschichten" will develop a project for the Kleiner Schlossplatz as part of the exhibition.
Supported by the Otto Herbet Hajek Foundation of Sparda-Bank Baden-Württemberg
