Like the television tower, Schlossplatz and the Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart Arena is one of the state capital's landmarks. Since its inception in 1933, the arena has been synonymous with historic moments: European and World Championships in athletics, the Super Bowl and other major international tournaments have been decided here, and stars from all over the world have given unforgettable concerts. The centerpiece of Neckarpark is inextricably linked to Stuttgart's soccer history. In 1974, the Stuttgart Stadium hosted the World Cup for the first time, and in 1988, the final of the European Cup took place in what is now the home of VfB Stuttgart. In 2006, after '74, the world was once again a guest of friends in the state capital of Baden-Württemberg. The DFB team cheered in the Stuttgart Stadium during the World Cup match for third place.
