With the Reich Garden Show in 1939, the former quarry was transformed into a local recreation area in Stuttgart. But as early as 1941, the exhibition hall and hall of honor were misused as a collection camp for Jewish citizens from all over the country, from where they were taken to the Inner North Station and deported from there to the extermination camps in the East. This is commemorated by a memorial stone erected in 1962 - expanded into a memorial site in 2013 by the artist Ülkü Süngün.
