In Heslach you almost get the feeling that the clocks tick more slowly. The Gasthaus zum Ochsen on Bihlplatz has always defied any attempt at modernisation. Everything is produced by hand here and always has been: the Spätzle (noodle) dough is still scraped from a board with a knife, and the bread dumplings that accompany the Sauerbraten (marinated roast) are also handmade. The beef stew, too, is timelessly delicious.
