The Porsche Museum has been presenting automotive history and “Fascination Porsche” in an incomparable style ever since 2009. The impressive building is located in the heart of the company’s home city of Zuffenhausen and was designed by the Delugan Meissl architectural firm of Vienna.
On the spacious exhibition area, around 80 vehicles and various smaller exhibits transport visitors into the fascinating history of Porsche. The exhibits are continually changed out, which contributes to the dynamism of the exhibit space. Visitors can experience live how Porsche classic cars are restored in the museum workshop and prepared for races.
As a living automobile museum, the Porsche Museum presents a number of special exhibits on special topics or special anniversaries every year. Special interactive highlights include the twelve metre long multi-touch wall, which entices each visitor to individually interact with it to time travel through automotive history with around 3,000 images, drawings, posters and advertisements. Another highlight is the “Porsche in the Mix” sound installation. With virtual live tours, mixed-reality formats and a new app, the Porsche Museum is picking up the pace with its digital offering. The digital experience is being further extended within the permanent exhibition using “Microsoft HoloLens” technology: During the “Porsche Holographic Design Tour”, a hologram of Porsche Designer Matthias Kulla explains the classic design features and design language of Porsche using a real 911 as an example.
The Porsche Museum receives its visitors from Tuesday through Sunday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Film footage and mobile audio guides – with special audio guides available specifically for young museum visitors – provide more in-depth information. The museum is also the starting point for factory tours.
The Porsche Museum will pay tribute to “70 Years Porsche Sportscars” with a special exhibition set to open from June 09, 2018 until January 06, 2019.
