#01 ERÖFFNUNGSKONZERT: KLANGPRACHT DES DRESDNER BAROCK
- Location:
- Stiftskirche Stuttgart, Stiftstraße 12, 70173 Stuttgart
The second edition of the International Bach Festival Stuttgart begins with magnificent sacred music by Bach's colleagues at the Dresden court. This year, the focus is on Bach's Latin masses, from the Kyrie Gloria masses to his opus summum, the Mass in B minor. In view of his connections to Dresden and his admiration for the court music there, we must not forget the great masses that outstanding composers such as Heinichen and Zelenka created for the Catholic court of the Saxon electors. The Gaechinger Cantorey opens this journey through Bach's world of inspiration with the Missa No. 12 by Heinichen and the Missa dei Filii by Zelenka. With their virtuoso coloraturas, playful orchestral parts and festive choirs, they transport us to the splendour of the Dresden Baroque.
In cooperation with Stiftsmusik Stuttgart as part of the Hour of Church Music
