Bach's artistic path up to his mighty Mass in B minor is characterized by his Lutheran Masses. These consist only of Kyrie and Gloria, with Bach adapting and refining choruses and arias from his own cantatas that he particularly liked. "These musical gems are stylistically diverse and technically extremely demanding.
