#20 JSB ENSEMBLE IN F-DUR: MESSE IM KONTEXT
- Location:
- HMDK Stuttgart, Urbanstraße 25, 70182 Stuttgart
In contrast to the modern style that Bach develops in a special way in the Missa in A, his Missa in F major BWV 233 begins with a "Kyrie" in the old motet style and with the hymn "Christe, du Lamm Gottes" as the cantus firmus - Bach draws inspiration from Palestrina's complex polyphony. Another striking feature of this mass is the scoring with two horns, which enriches the choral movements with new timbres.
In this fourth moderated concert on the relationship between the mass and the cantata movements arranged in it, the young soloists of the vocal masterclasses bid farewell.
