Johann Sebastian Bach Mass in F major BWV 233

In contrast to the modern style that Bach develops in a special way in the Mass in A, his Mass in F major BWV 233 begins with a "Kyrie" in the old motet style and with the hymn "Christe, du Lamm Gottes" as the cantus firmus - Bach was inspired by Palestrina's complex polyphony.

Another striking feature of this mass is the scoring with two horns, which enrich the choral movements with new timbres. In this fourth moderated concert on the relationship between the mass and the cantata movements arranged in it, the young soloists of the vocal masterclasses bid farewell.
