#21 BACH TO MINIMALISM
- Location:
- Johanneskirche Stuttgart, Gutenbergstraße 11, 70176 Stuttgart
Immersive textures, rousing rhythms, intimate sounds - sometimes inspired by their great admiration for Johann Sebastian Bach, the composers of minimal music found their sound language. The baroque ensemble Le Concert d'Hostel Dieu from Lyon brings this connection between two seemingly completely different worlds to life: Bach's instrumental music meets the rhythmically pulsating energy of Steve Reich and Karl Jenkins, whose works create modern sound architectures with an almost pop-like directness. Meditative pieces by Arvo Pärt, among others, are in turn reflected in the contemplative depth of Bach's counterpoint.
