FLOATING. A Contrast in Difficult Times
“Floating” in these crisis-ridden times? It’s not a contradiction—on the contrary: to move from forms of political stagnation and polarization back into a flexible space for thought, floating should be understood as an invitation. And it finds its most beautiful resonance in literature. Literature absorbs the questions of our present, opens up spaces, endures contradictions, and promises new perspectives and insights—to move from the “weight of facts to the breath of possibilities,” as cultural studies scholar Joseph Vogl puts it. Throughout the year, the Literaturhaus has served as a floating space of possibility in various formats, culminating now in a full, exciting birthday week. Soar with us!
