#30 CONCERTO COPENHAGEN: NEW BRANDENBURG CONCERTOS
- Location:
- Neues Schloss Stuttgart, Schlossplatz 4, 70173 Stuttgart
Bach's six organ trio sonatas BWV 525-530 are among his most imaginative and attractive compositions. Bach's frequent rearrangements of his works as well as the orchestration of the original Brandenburg Concertos inspired oboist Antoine Torunczyk to realize this project together with the internationally renowned ensemble Concerto Copenhangen and its director Lars Ulrik Mortensen. Their "extended" organ trio sonatas offer a unique Bach repertoire with a variety of instrument combinations (including oboe d'amore, oboe da caccia, viola d'amore, corno da caccia and violoncello da spalla). The music shines lightly and transparently, with a broad color palette of these exotic baroque instruments. Unmistakably composed by Bach, it is fresh and innovative at the same time. A revelation of timbre and vibrancy that would have delighted Bach.
