On August 6 and 9, 1945, the USA destroyed the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki with two atomic bombs - with devastating consequences that are still felt today. By the end of 1945, around 140,000 people had died in Hiroshima and 74,000 in Nagasaki.

Many survived seriously injured or are still suffering from the long-term effects today. The atomic bombings marked a turning point in the history of mankind - they showed the immeasurable destructive potential of nuclear weapons. The history of the atomic bombings and their consequences is shown on 17 posters, as well as the nuclear weapons tests and the current situation of nuclear (dis)armament.
