Afrika Film Festival: Amazing Grace

Aretha Franklin was at the zenith of her career in 1972. But after 20 studio albums, including eleven number one hits, the Queen of Soul decided to return to her musical roots.
In the Missionary Baptist Church in Watts, Los Angeles, she gives a concert together with the Community Choir and gospel legend Reverend James Cleveland and has a recording made for the album.
It is pure soul energy and a fascinating contemporary document. It was not until 2019, 47 years later, that the film was shown on the big screen for the first time.
