Alice - Spiel um dein Leben

Location:
Altes Schauspielhaus, Kleine Königstr. 9, 70178 Stuttgart

A musical play about the pianist Alice Herz-Sommer

Experience Natalie O'Hara in a one-person play with piano about the pianist Alice Herz-Sommer (1903-2014) and her survival as a Jewish musician in the Theresienstadt ghetto - a true story about the power of music as an emotional theater experience.

Alice Herz-Sommer's optimism and her love of humanity, which she retained despite her difficult fate, are moving and inspiring. The play traces Alice's time in Theresienstadt, where she gives concerts and fights for survival with her six-year-old son, and also brings to life the magic of music, which seems to have protected her from bitterness and despair. The discrepancy between the beauty of music and the horror of the ghetto is the theme of this evening, which is a piano concerto, biography and drama all in one.

Natalie O'Hara, known from the ZDF series "Der Bergdoktor", can be seen here this season in "Gefährliche Liebschaften". In "Alice" she plays over 20 roles and live piano, from Bach to Gershwin, from Chopin etudes to Beethoven sonatas.

For her acting performance in this staged solo play, she was nominated for the German Theater Award DER FAUST 2023 in the category "Actor:in Drama".
