AniMovie Special: Die Abenteuer des Prinzen Achmed mit Live Begleitung

A special experience awaits the audience on Friday, May 8 at 6:30 pm: THE ADVENTURES OF PRINCE ACHMED, the first surviving feature-length animated film in film history, will be brought to life in an extraordinary live scoring by members of the SWR Symphony Orchestra with the original music.

Members of the SWR Symphony Orchestra will accompany Lotte Reiniger's 1926 silhouette film live, lending a new musical dimension to the artistic figures and fairytale-like visual worlds. The result is an impressive interplay of early animation art and contemporary interpretation - paying tribute to the pioneer of the animation classic Lotte Reiniger and her style-defining animation technique.
The event in cooperation with SWR impressively demonstrates how vivid film history can be - and how music expands the narrative of images in a special way.
