Global climate change is also affecting the polar regions; the Arctic in particular is currently experiencing above-average warming. What are the possible reasons for this? What controlling (?) role do the two very different polar ice caps play in global climate events? What changes can already be detected and what consequences can be expected for humans and nature? The lecture attempts to provide some information and answers. In addition, the two polar climates will be briefly presented as different habitats.
