Everyone in Karla's family knows what it feels like not to belong. Karla experienced it as a child in Bremen-Nord. Her father Avi in a convent school in Jerusalem. Her grandmother Maryam as a guest worker in Germany. Her great-grandmother Armine on the streets of Istanbul. In her acclaimed novel "Auf der Straße heißen wir anders", ZEIT journalist and author Laura Cwiertnia follows the traces of an Armenian family over four generations. With sensitivity and a subtle sense of humor, she reveals her experiences, which still resonate today. The Armenian-born actress Alina Manoukian has adapted the novel as a staged reading. After great success at the Hamburg Schauspielhaus, she is now bringing it to the stage throughout Germany together with actors Michael Weber and Bettina Stucky. The staged reading will be followed by a discussion with the author Laura Cwiertnia.
