The shadows of war | An exhibition of works by photographer Leonid Logvynenko

The war in Ukraine means not only fighting, but also a change in everyday life. "Shadows of War" shows life under war conditions - far removed from frontline reports and political debates. Photographer and journalist Leonid Logvynenko from Kharkiv uses his camera to document human life in the shadow of war: everyday situations, quiet moments and the strength with which people face their reality. His photographs focus on the essentials - people.
The exhibition invites us to pause and take a look at what war means in everyday life. It makes visible what is often overlooked and reminds us that war is not just destruction, but a profound intervention in daily life.

"I Hope Your Family is Safe" (2023-2025). An exhibition of the works of Khmelnytsky photographer Anna Tsariuk

Russia's large-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 marked a dramatic escalation in the war that began in 2014. After nine years abroad, Ukrainian photographer Anya Tsaruk returned to her home country to document the everyday life of her family and friends for the photo series "I Hope Your Family is Safe". The title of the work quotes a phrase she often hears abroad - hopeful, sincere and yet disturbing. With her photographs, Tsaruk creates a quiet, nuanced visual story that focuses on human relationships in a deeply empathetic way. Her photographs draw attention to what becomes most precious in life-threatening circumstances: the inviolable normality for those who call Ukraine home. The project captures moments of loneliness and connectedness without emphasizing the supposed "otherness" of the war-torn people. It challenges us to base our empathy not only on compassion, but on the recognition of universal human bonds, values, fears and hopes.
