Band in the BIX Christmas Special (II)

The brains behind the band in the BIX are saxophonist and arranger Libor Sima and drummer Meinhard "Obi" Jenne, who have positioned themselves as the nucleus of numerous musical activities in Stuttgart for 25 years now.

Characterized by the masterful handling of their instruments, these musicians are addicted to grooving and swinging jazz and the joy of discovering and developing new musical synergies.
In addition to the regular line-up, Obi Jenne regularly invites guest musicians from all over Germany and pursues his personal idea of an open community among jazz musicians in the ensemble under the title "Band in the BIX". This constantly gives rise to new interpretations and introduces important composers or entire musical themes.

For some time now, the Band in the BIX has concentrated on selected special programs and there is always something special for Christmas:

Christmas songs in special arrangements from the pen of Sima, who manages to make a sleigh ride á la Sleight Ride groove in 7/8 time, who makes Winter Wonderland and many other pieces swing wonderfully and who has composed the B section to Wham's "Last Christmas" that is missing from the original.

Some of the arrangements will be heard for the first time this Christmas and are perfectly tailored to the infectiously swinging and grooving band around the phenomenal Axel Schlosser, Libor Sima, Olaf Polziehn, Jean-Philippe Wadle and Obi Jenne.
