Paul Bratter is an extremely correct and solid man who works as a lawyer in New York. But after his marriage to Corie, his orderly existence comes to an end, because Corie is all about joie de vivre and pleasure.

After a stormy honeymoon, real married life begins. The newly married Bratter couple move into their first apartment together. Nothing should actually stand in the way of their happiness, but everyday life immediately puts their young marriage to the test: the apartment is on the fifth floor without an elevator, the furniture is missing, there is a large gaping hole in the roof, the neighbor, an extravagant eccentric, proves to be very clingy and to top it all off, Corie's mother comes to visit ...
With its "mixture of fast-paced wit and profundity" (Der Spiegel), the first play by Neil Simon, the "King of Broadway", quickly conquered theater stages all over the world from 1963 onwards. The successful film adaptation with Jane Fonda and Robert Redford made this comedy immortal.

The Komödie im Marquardt is directed by Robin Telfer, who has already won the Audience Award three times for his affectionate and psychologically finely drawn productions such as "Monsieur Claude and his Daughters", "Three Men in the Snow" and "Arsenic and Lace".
