The salon exhibition "Best of Stuttgart" is the first to show a selection of outstanding exhibits that have been donated to the newly founded StadtPalais since 2007.
"From Atomic Suit to Zapata" is the motto under which around 120 exhibits with sometimes curious collection histories can be seen: Unique Stuttgart items reminiscent of forgotten places such as the "Vereinigte Hüttenwerke", the trendy "Zapata" pub or the Cafe Greiner with its 1920s Art Deco charm.
Behind the Stadtpalais will be a residential container and next to the pavilion of the Weissenhof exhibition from 1927 will be the "Atomanzug" from 1954. Stuttgart design will be represented by Wilhelm Wagenfeld, Herta Marie Witzemann, Herbert Hirche, Frei Otto and a precious leather cabinet from the Wilhelminian era. A poster wall commemorates moving protest marches, and Manfred Rommel's private "Baby Benz" will also be on display for just a few days. 120 exhibits tell Stuttgart city stories that (almost) everyone can still remember or rediscover here. "Best of Stuttgart" is best of memories.
