BILK
Bilk from Chelmsford, Essex bring fresh rock'n'roll to the world, and not just in the literal sense. With a dash of punk, a good amount of indie and a bit of rap, Bilk's style doesn't conform to a label, but it doesn't have to in order to succumb to its charm. With their exciting, fast-paced genre and sound changes, the trio has already built up a loyal fan base that not only sings along to their songs by heart, but also likes to get tattoos of the band's iconic snail logo. Led by charismatic singer and guitarist Sol Abrahams and backed by Luke Hare on bass guitar and Harry Gray on drums, Bilk's music appeals to Gen-Z - with believable songs about partying, love, growing up and life in modern Britain in general. They themselves have been influenced by music from Nirvana and The Streets, as well as genres such as punk and grime. Abrahams gave the band its name inspired by his father, who had an eventful job as a cab driver in London. In addition to the usual hedonistic themes of rock'n'roll, the band also takes a critical look at political issues. Their song "Stand Up", for example, is a reckoning with conservative politics in their country. Bilk have become a force to be reckoned with, with several sold-out tours and major festival appearances across the UK, filling the stages of the Great Escape and Reading and Leeds Festivals, among others. After releasing their self-titled debut album in 2023, the band released their second album entitled 'Essex, Drugs and Rock and Roll' in January this year. The band have just completed their biggest tour to date, performing across Europe. With frenetic, sold-out shows - they were successfully on the road in this country as recently as spring - credible and witty lyrics, riffs to rival the greats and choruses to sing along to, Bilk are a band not to be missed. How good that they are back for three dates in November!
The tour is presented by Messed!Up Magazine and Frontstage Magazine.
