BIX TIPP: Lawrence Fields // SUPERSONIC TRIO

Lawrence Fields is known for his combination of captivating musicality, lightning-fast piano technique and an expressive, personal sound.

Downbeat Magazine has called Fields a rising star and his music has been featured internationally. Lawrence's groups can be heard in prestigious jazz venues around the world - including Moods in Zurich, Porgy and Bess in Vienna, Unterfahrt in Munich, Dizzy's Club at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Jazz St. Louis and Jazzweek Burghausen 2025 in Germany.

Fields is also a key member of several forward-thinking, critically acclaimed groups, including Joe Lovano and Dave Douglas' "Sound Prints" and the Grammy-nominated group Chief Adjuah/Christian Scott. After performing and/or recording with a variety of artists (including Nicholas Payton, Branford, Delfeayo Marsalis and others) and the release of his highly acclaimed acoustic jazz debut "To the Surface," Fields' new Supersonic Trio combines groove-based sounds from the past and present - blending R&B, jazz, hip-hop and funk into a harmonious whole.

Fields' work on keyboards and Fender Rhodes has also been heard with artists such as Chief Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott), Nate Smith and Takuya Kuroda. Several years in a row he has been recognized as a top-ranked "Rising Star" in Downbeat Magazine's annual critics poll.
