BIX TIPP: LUCA SESTAK TRIO feat. Peter Weniger & Jonas Burgwinkel

Luca Sestak is a young pianist, composer and producer from Germany who has taken the international music scene by storm with his virtuoso performances and unmistakable sound.

Born in 1995, Luca began playing classical piano at the age of nine. At the age of eleven, he discovered jazz and began composing his own pieces. Shortly afterwards, Luca uploaded his piano performances to YouTube - his videos have now achieved over 30 million views.
At the age of 15, he performed in public for the first time, initially in small clubs and at local events. His unique style, a mixture of jazz, blues, funk and boogie-woogie with classical and pop music, made him an outstanding musician, and he was soon playing in larger halls and at festivals worldwide.

Luca's music is characterized by his virtuoso playing and his ability to humorously combine traditional piano genres such as jazz, classical and blues with contemporary elements and modern beats. His compositions and arrangements are a fusion of different genres and his improvisational skills are second to none.

In addition to worldwide performances, Luca can look back on impressive successes, including concerts in front of the German Federal President and the Irish President, a three-week tour of China in 2018 and numerous television and radio appearances. Since 2018, Luca has been an official sponsor of KAWAI Pianos, one of the world's leading piano manufacturers. A year later, Sony Music signed him to produce his album "Right or Wrong".

With his new album "Lighter Notes", Luca cleverly demonstrates how Chopin gets funky, Bach would play in a jazz club and in the process elicits sounds from the piano that one would never have expected - even by using adhesive tape or felt to prepare the instrument for his own compositions.

Luca and his trio know how to captivate their audience: with youthful enthusiasm and a lot of charm, they move between jazz, classical music, pop, blues and funk and combine the genres humorously without taking themselves too seriously.
