The band name ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) may be a little confusing given the almost hypnotic effect of the musical progressions within the formation with this name, but the musicians also admit to a therapeutic effect on the group itself.
Not only on their eighth album since 2010, no, in general the Icelandic band either feels like a cozy afternoon in a warm bed while the coffee boils in the background, like the feeling of standing alone on a mountain peak - or, on the contrary, like being stuck in a traffic jam and knowing that you urgently have to go somewhere.
You can call it jazz - but you don't have to. "We all have different musical backgrounds. I think that's what makes these different sounds and the versatility of our records." The band's influences include Miles Davis as well as Radiohead, Dr. John and Steely Dan.
ADHD formed in 2009 for a festival appearance. The chemistry between the four musicians was right - and just one year later, the band's debut album "ADHD" was released, which was named "Jazz Album of the Year" at the Icelandic Music Awards. In the following years, ADHD continuously released further studio albums (including a double album) and a live album. Above all, however, the band toured continuously and built up a loyal and large fan base. They are now inviting them to the next acoustic adventure with "ADHD 8" and the accompanying live performances.
Their latest album "ADHD 9" was recorded in the intimate setting of Castle Studios in Dresden. It captures the pure energy and spontaneity of their live performances and the intimate connection they share with each other.
Line-up: Ómar Guðjónsson (b, git); Óskar Guðjónsson (sax); Tómas Jónsson (p, org, synth); Magnús Trygvason Eliassen (dr, perc)
