COOLTOURs - Zum Lachen in den Keller

The cellar: this is where people wash, work and stack. And sometimes unrestrained partying, singing, dancing and eating. The boundaries blur between shadows and ghosts. A place of darkness and loneliness, a place of freedom and knowledge.

Between storage shelves and ringing pipes, we dig up memories, experience powerlessness and loss, break taboos. On the washing line, we confront social norms, grow up and show our feelings.

Zum Lachen in den Keller is a moving journey into the hidden rooms of our inner world. At times laugh-out-loud funny, at times cellar-deep sad - this play opens doors that would otherwise remain closed.

COOLTOURs - Zum Lachen in den Keller' is part of the COOLTOURs series of socio-political touring theater and is part of the LABYRINTH music-dance-theater productions. The play is produced by young people with and without a refugee background under the direction of Patrizia Birkenberg, Lena Bäuerle, Thea Marie Eilers, Ester Falk, Yahi Nestor Gahe and Johannes Reischmann.

We have deliberately split our ticket prices. Culture costs money and needs "sponsors" to cover its costs. But culture should also ensure participation. Reduced ticket prices give people access, even if they have less financial leeway.
