"Desert grunge" between stoner riffs, alternative and space rock anthems
The trio from Dortmund are somehow always on tour, so it's almost surprising that they were still able to release their sixth studio album last year. "Chuparosa" (the title) sounds like Seattle and takes fans back to the 1990s, because as proven music nerds, it was a matter close to the band members' hearts to make the recordings where the roots of their inspiration lie. So they traveled to the northwest of the USA and Tony Reed, who had already worked as a producer for SAINT VITUS, not only contributed his expertise, but also brought along his friend Bob Balch from FU MANCHU as a guest to refine the sound. Between grunge, alternative, stoner riffs as well as desert and space rock anthems, between fuzz and psychedelic, the three musicians have created their very own "desert grunge" - the result is songs that can hold their own on the international stage and combine raw energy with musical skill, but always come across as casual.
