Das können wir uns nicht leisten – Tour 2026
- Location:
- Literaturhaus Stuttgart, Breitscheidstr. 4, 70174 Stuttgart
Miriam Davoudvandi is a journalist, presenter and author. Born in Bucharest in 1992 to a Romanian mother and an Iranian father, she grew up in a small town in southern Germany. Today, she writes about pop culture, politics and the psyche for Spiegel and Die Zeit, among others, and talks about mental health with prominent guests as host of the WDR podcast "Danke, gut". With her book "Das können wir uns nicht leisten", she is now bringing her story to the stage - but not as a traditional reading. The 2026 tour will be a live show with
texts, personal stories, humor and pop-cultural analyses. There will be surprise guests at some venues, as well as a lot of rap, political classifications and plenty of millennial and 2000s nostalgia, for better or for worse.
The focus will be on Miriam Davoudvandi's story of growing up poor in Germany: of Victory shoes instead of Nikes, of the shame of not wanting to invite friends home, of television as a window to the world and of social advancement. Together with the audience, she looks back on formative pop moments, analyzes old "Assi-TV" formats and asks: How did all this actually shape us? Personally, politically - and culturally.
