Argan has everything he needs to be happy - a daughter, a house and lots of imaginary illnesses. Hardly a cough goes by without him drawing out his will. While he surrounds himself with doctors, pills and enemas like others with friends, his cunning maid Toinette has completely different plans: she wants to open her master's eyes - and not with medicine, but with an ingenious trick.

Between false diagnoses, genuine feelings and a doctor who isn't one, a wonderfully over-the-top whirlwind of deception, love and fits of laughter unfolds.
