Edgar Wallace DER HEXER crime thriller, stage version by Axel Preuß

Who hasn't heard of Edgar Wallace's crime novels! His best-known villain, the "Witcher", now provides suspense at the Altes Schauspielhaus. With guaranteed horror!

Mary Lenley has taken up a new position as secretary to the shady lawyer Maurice Messer. Gwenda Milton, her predecessor and sister of the notorious "Witcher", was recovered dead from the Thames a few months ago. Messer does not appear to be innocent in this incident. First believed dead, the "Witcher", a master of disguise, returns to London and seeks revenge! Not an easy game for Scotland Yard and Inspector Wembury. Because nobody knows the true face of the "Witcher"!

"Hello, this is Edgar Wallace!", an intro that makes the hearts of crime fans beat faster. The "thriller king" (Stuttgarter Zeitung) achieved great fame from the 1950s onwards thanks to the film adaptations of his novels. The stories from the London fog triggered a veritable "Wallace mania". With a mixture of horror, humor and a touch of the exotic, Wallace continues to delight and amuse audiences to this day. "The Magician" was initially conceived by Edgar Wallace as a play. The 100th anniversary of the premiere is in 2026!

The play is being staged by Eva Hosemann, an expert in crime stories. The co-director of the Crime Nights has already thrilled audiences at the Altes Schauspielhaus with "Misery", "Falsche Schlange" and "Die Mausefalle", among others.
