Reading and Discussion with Francis Fukuyama
What kind of world order are we heading toward? Authoritarian movements, technological change, neoliberalism, and identity politics—after a long period of democratization, liberal societies are in crisis. Through his reflections on the state of the world, Francis Fukuyama demonstrates why liberal thought is the only viable option for Western societies in the 21st century. And he makes clear why freedom must be defended to mitigate the risk of an authoritarian world order. Francis Fukuyama, born in Chicago in 1952, published the bestseller “The End of History” in 1992, which brought him international fame. Fukuyama is one of the most significant political theorists of our time. He has published numerous books on U.S. politics; he is currently a professor of political science at Stanford University.
