The Nutcracker, set to the famous music of Peter Tchaikovsky, is one of the most popular ballets in the classical repertoire. In 2022, Edward Clug created his enchanting version for the Stuttgart Ballet. With costumes and stage design by Jürgen Rose, this "fantastic" ballet brings E.T.A. Hoffmann's tale The Nutcracker and the Mouse King to life. Inspired by the literary original, a fairytale ballet has been created in which nuts provide surprises. The nutcracker is Clara's favorite Christmas present. Despite its wooden shell, the girl falls in love with it. Her godfather Drosselmeier has told her that the evil Mouse King has turned his nephew into a nutcracker. The story stimulates Clara's imagination: The audience joins Clara in her search for her nephew in the land of fantasy and cracks the hard shell of the nut. What is hidden behind it?
