Inspired by the story by E.T.A. Hoffmann, this enchanting fairy tale tells the story of young Clara, who receives a nutcracker in the form of a little soldier as a gift on Christmas Eve. During the night, the toy comes to life and leads her on a magical adventure: a battle against an army of mischievous mice, a transformation into a charming prince and a fairytale journey through an enchanting kingdom where flowers bloom and snowflakes dance. The world premiere of this two-part ballet took place in December 1892 at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. The Nutcracker is still one of the most frequently performed ballets in the world today - celebrated for its rousing music and spectacular choreography.
