Scenic reading with Vernesa Berbo

In her debut novel "The Son and the Snowflake", Vernesa Berbo tells the story of two sisters during the siege of Sarajevo. Dijana is a sister, daughter and soldier. When asked why she is called "son", her father just smiles mysteriously. Dijana is self-confident and passionate, but above all she is the protector of Dada, her sister who is two years younger. Sensitive and bright, Dada was born in 1976 in the freezing cold, like a snowflake that floats into the room at the last moment before the window is slammed shut. When the siege of Sarajevo began in 1992, Dijana realized that it was up to her to bring the "snowflake" through the war alive. Vernesa Berbo - writer and actress currently appearing in "Eine runde Sache" at Schauspiel Stuttgart - is herself a survivor of the siege of Sarajevo and plunges us right into the reality of the war that still receives too little attention: the fate of the women, their emotional wounds, but also their inner strength.
