Discussion with Winfried Kretschmann, Christoph Möllers and Anne Rabe Moderation: Torsten Hoffmann and Felix Heidenreich
There seems to be a broad consensus today that it has become necessary to actively defend liberal democracy. But what strategies actually make a democracy defensible and resilient? Some point to the power of civil society, associations and parties. Others see the state itself as being responsible and call for decisive repression. A third approach could be not to weaken the enemies of democracy, but to make democracy itself more successful. So what should we do in a situation in which authoritarian movements are becoming ever stronger? Author Anne Rabe ("Die Möglichkeit von Glück", Klett-Cotta 2023), Professor of Public Law and Philosophy of Law at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Christoph Möllers ("Freiheitsgrade", Suhrkamp Verlag 2020), and Baden-Württemberg's Minister President Winfried Kretschmann will discuss this topic.
