Die Ehnerts

Location:
Renitenztheater, Büchsenstr. 26, 70174 Stuttgart

Jennifer and Michael Ehnert tied the knot a long time ago - and they've been arguing ever since. Mostly in public and much to the delight of the audience. Thanks to their successful programs "Küss langsam" and "Zweikampfhasen", they have now established themselves on German stages as the relationship fighting experts who will not shy away from any topic as long as it is suitable for giving the other person a painful broadside.

The Ehnerts can give impromptu lectures on the biological differences between the sexes, on the fight for women's rights, on the function of sex and the dysfunction of sex, on the gender pay gap, on the #metoo movement, on the history of the origins of marriage, on gender-specific communication deficits and especially on the mistakes of others - which, to their great surprise, always leads to new arguments.

No question: the Ehnerts need therapy!

However, they quickly realize that most therapy measures are actually only based on classic acting techniques. So why leave the house and spend a lot of money when you can make your own couples therapy? At home, in their pyjamas - and without some studied third party chatting in between.

"We need to talk" not only offers deep psychological insight into women's brains and men's handbags, but also access to secret couple's worlds that no outsider has ever entered before.

"Wir müssen reden" is a fast-paced two-person comedy that works like a peep show (only without undressing!), like open-heart surgery (only without anesthesia!), like divine enlightenment (only without mercy!).

"Wir müssen reden" once again offers the two thoroughbred comedians Ehnert & Ehnert a battlefield for their highly private marital war. But anyone who knows the Ehnerts suspects that they won't be satisfied with that alone: And so "We need to talk" ultimately becomes a globe-spanning psychological all-round attack that spares no one.

"With razor-sharp wordplay and fast-paced exchanges, the two deliver a firework display of mutual accusations. Married for 18 years, their everyday married life provides great fuel for fire and thus the perfect template for a new program from Ehnert. No topic is spared, current politics, retired people with a mind of their own, digital nonsense, everyone gets their comeuppance right across society. Time and again, sex in all its many facets also takes center stage. Jennifer and Michael Ehnert engage their audience with a charming wink: "Do you know that too?", "Is that the same for you?" - and the next jab at their spouse is already flying, right up to the punchline that really hurts. The audience laughs loudly and heartily, sometimes more on his side, sometimes more on hers. Social criticism, self-irony and pointed observations of everyday life merge into a fast-paced, perfectly coordinated mixture of facial expressions, gestures and wordplay. The applause was huge - and well deserved." (Silvia Kleps, Hessisch Niedersächsische Allgemeine)

"Comedy acting. The two Hamburg actors Jennifer and Michael Ehnert stand for this genre like hardly anyone else in this country. And what the Ehnerts offer in their new program, 'Wir müssen reden', is far more than the relationship battles they tried out in their successful programs 'Zweikampfhasen' and 'Küss langsam'. After almost 20 years of marriage, the Ehnerts are now focusing on the bigger picture. This is how satire is thought big and made big. Because the Ehnerts also bring Erdogan, Melania Trump and Hitler to therapy sessions, there is at least hope for healing on a small scale in the fight against the bad guys of this world. With bite, topical references and in a highly entertaining way, the couple create a true work of art in more than two hours. And the artist couple Ehnert (re)discover themselves in a 'very, very irritating time'." (Stefan Reckziegel, Hamburger Abendblatt)
