Die Milliarden-Lobby. Zukunftsfragen der Energiepolitik

Location:
Literaturhaus Stuttgart, Breitscheidstr. 4, 70174 Stuttgart

Conversation with Susanne Götze and Wolfgang Schorlau

A celebrated Stuttgart crime writer and an outstanding journalist from SPIEGEL: both are interested in future
are interested in the future of energy policy and both know how to do thorough research. Susanne Götze hosted Wolfgang Schorlau's last book premiere about wind energy in the Black Forest - now it is Schorlau who is bringing her new book "Die Milliarden-Lobby" (The Billionaire Lobby) to the stage. Germany is dependent on oil and gas from authoritarian regimes, otherwise many heating systems would remain cold in winter, cars would come to a standstill and many products would not be available. However, fossil fuel imports are not only fueling the climate crisis, they are also forcing Germany into contracts with dictatorial states and thus into a dangerous dependency. In their book, Susanne Götze and Annika Joeres show who is responsible for these contracts and who is fighting alternative energy concepts. Susanne Götze holds a doctorate in history and is an author and journalist. For her articles, she researches the consequences of climate change and international climate and energy policy in Europe, Africa and North and South America. Her book "Climate Out of Control" received the NDR Non-Fiction Prize in 2022.
