Taking stock after two years of "partying, beating and posting"

Since spring 2024, new violence-oriented right-wing extremist youth structures have been forming in Germany. What is behind the "revolt strategy" of the Young Nationalists and decentralized "TikTok divisions"?

The new right-wing extremist mobilization and recruitment strategies that have been visible for around two years are characterized by action-oriented, low-threshold and youth-oriented structures that communicate visibly via social media and messengers. More relevant, however, is the actual mobilization shown, for example in the dozens of counter-protests at CSD demonstrations last summer, and in violent attacks on political opponents. Is a new "comradeship model 2.0" emerging here? And how should we respond?

SPEAKER: Julius Geiler, journalist and author. He reports mainly from Berlin and the eastern German states from the Baltic Sea to the Thuringian Forest. He focuses on the topics of security and extremism and is also the author of the newsletter "Im Osten". Medium Magazin voted him one of the "Top 30 under 30" journalists in Germany in 2021. He has produced reports on right-wing extremism for RBB and ZDF, stood in front of the camera and researched undercover in neo-Nazi chat groups.
