Play by Wolfram Lotz

We had the choice. We have the choice. We will have had the choice. What do we get out of it? That's what we get: the politicians. Two words. How many lies? Who are "they" then? What are "they" telling us? Who is telling us what? What does that tell us? "The politicians"

"The Politicians*" by Wolfram Lotz: like a one-sided poem, an ambivalent silence, a threefold roar, an unheard act, a negotiation of the unheard and the heard. A concert of out-of-tune voices. - By now at the latest, you will be tuning in: What's going on? Where will it end? Who can know?

Director Jozef Houben, internationally renowned as a clown and actor, picks up on what can easily get lost under a title like "The Politicians": Humor.

The author Wolfram Lotz and his texts have received numerous awards. He is rightly regarded as one of the most exciting authors of the present day: they stimulate and challenge us to see new theater texts in a new way and not to force them into an all too familiar scheme: "The authors' plays are so bulky and unwieldy that they already cause problems when they are transported into the theater because, for example, they don't fit through the door, so that the door has to be enlarged by force, and the question arises for those involved why this door was only so small, indeed: how they could only ever go through this small door. Why they have never noticed that this door is so small. What the door should actually be like, through which they go every day, and whether it needs a door at all or something completely different," says Lotz about his work. - The Wilhelma Theater is now opening its doors wide and is looking forward to a special and entertaining evening with an enthusiastic acting ensemble, which will also be supported by students from the HMDK's Jazz & Pop Institute.

The students of the 3rd drama year will be performing:
Eva Habenicht, Lotte Henning, Mika Pavle Kuruc, Vittoria Mensah, Philip Süs, Mara Suter, Nico Voigtmann, Annalisa Weyel and Richard Kipp (4th year) as well as students of the Institute Jazz& Pop Johanna Ehlers (double bass), Jakob Hafner (drums), Georg Alban List (piano)
