Reading and talk
with Martin Mosebach
Moderation: Jörg Magenau
A faded azalea tree, and then, quite unexpectedly, a pink cloud, new green - "that's how you should work, like this plant", says Louis Creutz, a painter whom Martin Mosebach portrays as a rather vain and unscrupulous character in his new novel "Die Richtige". He profits from the people who come into contact with him as long as they are useful to him, only to then drop them. It is hardly surprising that these are mostly women, his models. One of them is now homeless; another, full of life, who braves the cold barefoot in sandals, throws caution to the wind. What "connects Martin Mosebach as the author and Louis Creutz as the main protagonist of the novel is the practised behavioral theory of the cold. Creutz makes us shiver with disgust, Mosebach with delight," says Andreas Platthaus in the FAZ.
