Franz Kafka's story The Metamorphosis begins with a sentence that irritates - and disturbs:
"When Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from restless dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a monstrous vermin."
We asked ourselves: What if the transformed Gregor woke up today?
Perhaps as someone who already has 47 new messages on his cell phone in the morning, whose calendar is filled with online appointments, who is lost in the jungle of expectations, self-presentation and comparison - between demands, social media, permanent pressure to optimize.
Our production brings Kafka's story into the present day:
A young person works - until he can't anymore.
Not suddenly, but with every like and every question that could no longer be answered without ChatGPT. The large theater group and the dance group of the NGL Stuttgart have approached this material together:
Using language, movement, music and choreography, we tell of a transformation that is more topical than it seems.
