Disgusting Food Museum

Location:
Disgusting Food Museum, Königstraße 21, 70173 Stuttgart

The successful exhibition from Malmö, Sweden - Food is so much more than just food. Unusual dishes from exotic cultures have always fascinated us. Unfamiliar foods can be delicious - or rather an acquired taste. While cultural differences often divide us and create boundaries, food can also connect us. Sharing a meal is the best way to turn strangers into friends.
The evolutionary function of disgust is to protect us from disease and unsafe foods. Disgust is one of the six basic human emotions. While the emotion is universal, the foods we find disgusting are not. What is a delicacy to one person may be disgusting to another. The Disgusting Food Museum invites visitors to explore the world of food and challenge their ideas of what is edible - and what is not. Could a changed understanding of disgust help us to embrace more environmentally friendly foods of the future?
The exhibition features 80 of the world's most disgusting foods. Adventurous visitors will have the opportunity to smell and even taste some of these infamous foods. Do you dare to smell the stinkiest cheese in the world? Or taste sweets made with metal cleaners?
