Keynote speech by Prof. Dr. Naika Foroutan. What impact do these discourses on migration and integration have on our coexistence on the ground? And how can we counteract these developments as a diverse society, even in times of crisis?
Our cities are characterized by social diversity. This diversity is a resource and driver for innovation, creativity and cohesion. In recent years, we have seen increasing polarization in social and political debates around the topics of migration, integration and diversity, which have a significant impact on the cohesion of societies. What impact do these discourses have on how we live together locally? And how can we counteract these developments as a diverse society, even in times of crisis?
Prof. Dr. Naika Foroutan, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, will address these questions in her keynote speech. In a subsequent discussion round, we want to look at Stuttgart. Together with stakeholders from politics, administration, academia and civil society, we want to discuss what it takes to use diversity as an important resource and success factor for social cohesion, even in challenging times.
