Dominik „Dodokay" Kuhn

Dominik Kuhn, the media maker, entrepreneur and lecturer, surprises all those who know him as a comedian under his pseudonym "Dodokay" with his lectures; he has been professionally involved with the topics of media and digitalization since the end of the 1990s, which is also the reason why he had one of the early social media careers as a comedian. But nobody can listen to social media bashing any more - and neither can Dominik Kuhn. It is much more exciting to look at digital communication itself, which started it all, and why it has had such an enormous impact on society as a whole. Humanity has never communicated as much as it does today: vast amounts of messages, videos and images are shared every day. According to one estimate, 97% of all photographs in human history were taken in 2017. But few people ask themselves whether we really need all the selfies, foodies, mood messages and cat pictures. Worse still, hardly anyone realizes that this communication frenzy - despite all its benefits - undermines the effectiveness of private and professional processes. And only a minority seems to be bothered by the fact that conspiracy theories and fake news are on the rise again, even in these seemingly enlightened times. In this lecture, Dominik Kuhn explains how this hype came about in the first place and what it does to the brain. As we have come to expect from him, he addresses a few points that we don't hear so often and shows conclusively that not uncritically using every new form of communication without restraint is also a path to success.
